Think Yourself Thin

Sounds like a trick doesn’t it, surely you can’t actually just think yourself thin? You’re partly right, thinking on its own is just dreaming, but thinking followed up by action is an awesome combination.

Sounds like a trick doesn’t it, surely you can’t actually just think yourself thin? You’re partly right, thinking on its own is just dreaming, but thinking followed up by action is an awesome combination.

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible” – T.E Lawrence

So here is what you have to do to think yourself thin:

1. Visualise yourself thin

Visualise yourself thin, not just a skinny you, take 5 minutes, sit in a comfy chair and dream of a thinner, fitter or healthier you. Now you have a picture of this person in your head, give them a life, what type of clothes do they wear? What colour are those clothes? What kind of things can this person do that you can’t just now? How confident are they? How do they interact in social situations?

2. Visualise yourself worse than you are

Visualise yourself worse than you are, sometimes it can be more powerful understanding what life would be like if you kept going down the path you are on! Don’t dwell too long in this place, but make sure you realise that the better option is to move forward

3. Picture the journey

Picture the journey, you are about to embark on a journey in your car, but you don’t know where you’re going, what do you do? Check the map right? So this journey is no different, don’t just figure out where you are going but plan the journey. Where are your pitfalls? Are there any situations in the future that will distract you from your journey? How can you re-route your journey to miss them.

4. Get support, from family, friends and/or Burn It

Get support, from family, friends and/or Burn It, telling someone about your journey and inviting them into your plan will give you an extra incentive to stick it out.

So when are you going to take time to start your mental preparation? Now? Brilliant, that’s what we were hoping to hear.
