SUCCESS STORY

Lesley's Marathon Journey

In 11 weeks Lesley will RUN the London Marathon, 26.2 miles, a lifelong dream for as long as she can remember.

To put 26.2 miles into perspective, it’s like running from Deer Park roundabout in Livingston to Pizza Hut at the Glasgow Fort!

In August 2014, Lesley attended her first ever Burn It Fitness session.  With over 60% body fat and weighing almost 20 stone, she hadn’t exercised in a number of years and had lost her way with exercise and nutrition.  Lesley had tried numerous fad diets, none of which worked and ventured towards Burn It Fitness as somewhat of a last chance saloon to get fit and lose weight.  On night 1, Lesley struggled to jog from one lamppost to the next and cried on the way home thinking about giving up.  However, she didn’t.

Fast forward to today, as a result of never giving up, Lesley has lost over 20% body fat, has completed numerous 5 and 10k’s, a number of half marathons as well as Tough Mudder, The Moonwalk and a ton of adventure races!

It’s been a pleasure to watch someone like Lesley on this journey, we’ve been with her every step of the way and have been able to catch her when she’s fallen, this has been no easy journey, as a working Mum of two she’s somehow still managed to make time for exercise and focus religiously on her nutrition.  Many ‘fitness providers’ and peers told her she couldn’t or shouldn’t do it.  We believed otherwise and for the past two years have been focusing not only on physically improving Lesley’s fitness, but pyscologically improving her mind set too.

You can read Lesley’s original success story which we published in 2017, here http://www.burnit.co/portfolio/meet-lesley/

She’s cried a lot, swore a lot, wanted to give up a few times, fainted, bled, bitched, whined and moaned, and did I mention she swore a lot?  However, that is all chapters in her story, she has been super focused and super committed to completing this marathon and we’ve taken great pride and pleasure in getting her as ready as we possibly can.  Lesley is one of the most stubborn, dedicated and determined individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of training and watching her cross that finish line in London will be epic!

Burn It family, friends, lovers and haters, please join us in wishing Lesley well as she embarks on the second-half of her marathon training programme and begins to set aside hours and hours per week to up her miles.

If it wasn’t compulsory to raise a specific amount for charity, it’s likely Lesley wouldn’t have told many people about her marathon, and she won’t be too pleased on me writing this either.  However, she is a few hundred pound short on her target and I’d like to ask we all chip in a few pounds here and there to help hit the £1300 she has planned to raise for VICTA, a fantastic charity who supports children and young people who are blind or partially sighted and their families across the UK.  This is an incredible change for an incredible charity.

UPDATE: SHE DID IT!!
