The final straw was when I got pregnant with my daughter I was told I had gestational diabetes, I was left devastated and ended up on tablets along with insulin injections, I was also told that I’m at a much higher risk of getting diabetes when I’m older. This scared me.
I remember the first time I seen Burn It, I was passing through Howden in my car and my first thought was…… “they are mental!”
A couple of weeks later I seen them again and I thought I’m going to get fit then I will be just as mental as them, so I signed up for the gym 😳 another epic fail!
Two full years passed and I was the heaviest I’ve ever been, I was miserable, I had zero confidence, I felt I had lost myself in this body that I hated and I was too embarrassed to go to classes. My friend and I signed up to walk 10,000 steps every day in March for cancer research, I thought that would be a great start to getting me up from the sofa and actually doing some exercise, two weeks into doing this I built up the courage and signed up for Burn It Fitness! This was massive as I was so scared, I turned up on my first night and actually felt sick… the minute the warm up started I wanted to go back to my car as I thought I just can’t do this, however, I continued on. It was a massive eye opener for me as I didn’t realise just how bad my fitness was, I couldn’t even run from lamppost to lamppost! I was waiting on Paul to tell me to keep up or maybe tell me just how unfit I was, instead he told me I was doing great and to keep it up! (even when I felt I wasn’t) every single person I met this night was lovely and so supportive I got back to my car 1 hour later and with tear filled eyes, I booked my next class.
Fast forward 8 months and I have achieved so much… I’ve ran the fourth road bridge twice (ok maybe stopped a couple of times), I completed Super Burn It, I’ve been to a fitness adventure weekend with Burn It at Portavadie and had the best time, and most recently I have completed the Burn It Revolution, 10 week programme! I honestly didn’t think I would last as I felt everything was against me but I turned up and gave the best I could. The results I got in that 10 weeks far surpassed any results of the 11 years of diets and gyms!
In hindsight I wish I had just went along to Burn It sooner. I feel I have wasted so much time on diets and gyms. It is without a doubt been the best thing I have ever done. I’ve learned so much about my diet, my fitness and myself and for that I can’t thank Paul and the team enough. I still have a long way to go but I know as long as I have the Burn It team behind me, I can and will achieve my goals 💪
