I started Burn It in 2014, 9 months after the birth of my son. It was snowing and I could barely run the length of the field. Half way back up Preston Road I wondered if this was really for me but I finished that first class with a smile because everyone was so encouraging and I knew I was going to come back.
I have always struggled with diet and exercise. From being shouted at at school for not running fast enough, to regularly trying slimming world or another quick fix diet that promises everything and delivers very little. Not to mention jumping from gyms to aerobics classes to fitness dvds that only held my motivation for a few months.
I’ve constantly yo-yoed with my weight, always felt self conscious and like I’d never find an exercise I would enjoy sustainably.
I’d managed to drag myself round a couple of 5kms in the past but never thought I would achieve any more. How wrong I was!
Since being with Burn It Fitness, I’ve pushed myself harder than I ever thought I could and within the first 6 months I had ran my first 10km.
The classes are always challenging, but you go at your own pace and everyone is so friendly. Fast forward 5 years and I have a much better relationship with food and I really enjoy exercising. I’ve done 10km races, 5kms, obstacle courses, Burn It Fitness Fun days, Residential Fitness Weekends and last year I even did a Triathlon, an actual Triathlon.
Most importantly Burn It has given me the confidence to believe in myself. The last year has been tough with injury and family issues and my fitness took a knock. But Burn It have given me the tools to deal with it and get back to achieving my goals.
If you are thinking of trying it, just go. You won’t regret it!
