Meet Michael

I first joined Burn It back in October 2019 as a result of years of eating too much, drinking too much, not enough exercise, you know, the usual. I was about as heavy as I would ever want to be and had a desire to improve my fitness before turning 30 in May this year, so I went online and booked my first session for the next day.

I first joined Burn It back in October 2019 as a result of years of eating too much, drinking too much, not enough exercise, you know, the usual. I was about as heavy as I would ever want to be and had a desire to improve my fitness before turning 30 in May this year, so I went online and booked my first session for the next day.

Initially, I thought I would be turning up to a ‘bootcamp’ style thing where I would get shouted at for being slow and unfit but I thought ‘this will be worth it to quickly lose some weight and be able to run 100 yards’. What I actually found was completely different! On the first night, I was slow and unfit, but got constant encouragement from not only the instructors but the people in the class too, and whilst I felt absolutely done at the end of the hour, I got home and booked three more classes for the following week!

Since then I have taken part in over 50 classes and have lost just over 4 stone. I even started going to the running club back in March, something that would have been unthinkable last year.

There have been lots of challenges this year with lockdown, but I had committed to improving and during the shutdown I continued to run and managed to improve my 5k time by 4½ minutes!

I still go to classes and push myself to exhaustion for an hour, as I now find it is as much a mental boost as physical getting to push yourself past where you were the week before. But that’s the beauty of Burn It, it doesn’t matter if it’s your first night or if you have been going for years, everyone has their own goals and you are constantly pushed!

I would highly recommend Burn It to anyone, whether your goal is to increase your fitness, lose a bit of weight, or just feel a bit better about yourself. Just book a class and start!
